Don't Let TikTok Trends Replace Professional Skincare Advice

Don't Let TikTok Trends Replace Professional Skincare Advice

Your TikTok Feed Is Not a Dermatologist

Social media has changed the way we discover skincare and honestly, that isn't necessarily a bad thing.

Influencers and creators can introduce us to great products, interesting ingredients and routines we may have never found otherwise. We're not anti-UGC. We're anti-blind trends.

When a Recommendation Becomes a Red Flag

There’s a big difference between:

“This moisturizer completely changed how my dry skin feels.”

and

“This fatty cream cleared years of cystic acne.”

One is someone sharing their experience. The other deserves a few questions.

A rich cream can be incredible for dry or compromised skin. It can support the skin barrier, reduce moisture loss and leave skin looking healthier. But persistent cystic acne is complex. Expecting one viral cosmetic to suddenly undo years of it isn't a realistic standard for skincare.

The same goes for products promising to erase wrinkles overnight, permanently shrink pores or transform your skin in three days.

Scroll. Discover. Then Do Your Homework.

You don't need to stop taking recommendations from TikTok. Just don't let virality replace critical thinking.

Look at the ingredients. Ask what they're actually designed to do. Consider your own skin type and concerns. And remember: someone else's before-and-after is their experience is not a guarantee of yours.

Good skincare doesn't need an unbelievable story to be worth trying.

At GIRONA, we'd rather tell you what an ingredient can realistically do than promise you something it can't.

Enjoy the trends. Just don't follow them blindly.
